There’s a new book called “When You Lie About your Age, the Terrorists Win” (Carol Leifer). It has some funny essays about aging, and one line that I especially appreciated was “at age 45, you’re only called ‘young’ if you drop dead”.While age 50 is “the new 40”, there’s no doubt about the fact that our culture values youth—if not the reality of youth (would you really want to make the same mistakes?), at least the appearance of youth.
But I would go even one step further than that book. Fact is, that at age 30 your skin cells go dormant, become lazy, and slow down cellular turnover and activity. So your skin ages considerably earlier than the rest of your body.
If you want to fight aging, fight hard! Beginning at age 30, be sure to use a skincare product that activates and stimulates your skin cells so that your skin cells regenerate, produce collagen and maintain a youthful appearance. During the daytime, consider a product like ZO Skin Health’s Daily Power Defense. In March, we’ll be introducing ZO Skin Health’s cult-favorite, Radical Night Repair-Plus. Now, it’s better than ever—and very effective at anti-aging. Can’t wait til then? In the nighttime, try ZO Skin Health’s Ossential Growth Factor Serum. Keep those skin cells active and vital!

When You Lie About your Age…
Posted in Skin Care

Dear Dr. Obagi,
It’s been awhile and I am very happy with the NuDerm and ZO Skin Health Maintenance Program you recommended for my skin. The peri-oral dryness/peeling issue is a non-issue. I am still using 3X a week Obagi 0.1% Tretinoin/Blender as well as the NuDerm Clear.
As I alternate the NuDerm with the ZO Skin Health including the Overnight Recovery Creme, I am intrigued by your addition of the Radical Overnight Recovery Creme which contains 0.1% Retinol. I sometimes, as needed apply a thin layer of the Overnight Recovery Creme on top of the 0.1% Tretinoin since I have a tendency towards being feeling dry and tight.
When you have the opportunity, would you educate me on your new ZO product(s).
Also, I use ZO Exfoliating Polish 2X a week, I shelved the Clarisonic as I found that whenever I used it my skin became highly irritated to just about everything I put on my face. At the risk of sounding like a malcontent, is it all right that I am not seeing any visable peeling? As long as I am sticking with the maintenance program, is healthy skin cell renewal still being generated? Granted, I realize this maybe hard for you to answer without seeing me but I can tell you, my skin is not regressing! thank you for your all of your good works.
Fondest Regards,
Anne
