The 24th Ultimate Skin Health Symposium was held at the Montage Hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif, on November 9-11, 2012. The program was specifically designed to present new principles and novel ideas to encourage creativity among physicians and skincare professionals in how they treat each patient.

Dr. Zein Obagi wowed the audience with his results from reversing severe hyperpigmentation on skin of color, and offered his new thinking about the potentially dangerous long-term side effects of hydroquinone usage without medical supervision. Featuring a faculty of dermatologists, plastic surgeons, and anti-aging physicians, the symposium ticked all the boxes for today’s aesthetic practitioners interested in learning about skin-rejuvenation concepts.

Ultimate Skin Health Symposium 2012 Advances New Anti-Ageing Therapies
Zein Obagi, MD had three goals in mind for the 24th Ultimate Skin Health Symposium, The Art and Science of Skin Treatments & Rejuvenation, held at the Montage Hotel in Beverly Hills from 9–11 November, 2012. The first was to create the most effective approach to restoring skin health; the second was to standardise skin treatment and eliminate unnecessary variables; and the final objective of the programme was to present principles and ideas to encourage creativity among physicians and skincare professionals in the treatment of each patient. Dr. Obagi hopes that 'these ideas will challenge and encourage [doctors] to do [their] own research, experimentation, and clinical studies. That is what I have continued to do throughout my career as a dermatologist.' Click here to read the full article.

Don't cry over soured milk! The fermented dairy product was actually an important part of ancient Egyptian's skin rejuvenation regimen. Egyptian nobles bathed in sour milk in an effort to smooth their uneven skin. Lactic acid, the active ingredient in sour milk, worked as a homemade chemical peel to slough off ruptured, aging skin. To this day, mild chemical peels still contain lactic acid.

While modern beauty-seekers still turn to chemical peels for an effective, non-invasive anti-aging treatment, the procedure has received a major facelift. During the 1990s, expert clinician, Zein Obagi, MD., Medical Director of ZO Skin Health, Inc., revamped the popular facial resurfacing treatment to replace guesswork with science.

Reclaim your complexion
For devotees of Dr. Zein Obagi’s lines, there’s now another reason to covet his products. His latest venture, ZO® Medical, melds what the doctor is best known for – serious skin care – in an effective system with no restriction for how long the products can be used. With a goal of “whipping the skin into shape,” the multistep approach tackles wrinkles, spots, enlarged pores and sun damage by strengthening it so it is more resistant to age-related changes. Different from the namesake Obagi Medical and his offshoot ZO® Skin Health, Dr. Obagi says his new endeavor, “raises the bar by treating the skin at every layer. Feeding it with antioxidants, anti-inflammatories and retinol allows you to get the best results so the skin can come full circle.
